Google pitches Michigan on a different kind of data center. Some don’t buy it

WAYNE COUNTY, MI – One of the largest tech companies in the world promises its first potential Michigan data center will be all upside.

In pitching the 1.5 million-square-foot project on vacant land west of the Detroit Metro Airport, Google and its developer say they’re doing things differently. That means avoiding pitfalls that have fueled vehement resistance to the sprawling server warehouses popping up across Michigan and the nation.
