Three rental homes on Greydale and Lyndon streets in Brightmoor are slated for demolition in summer 2026 to make way for a 16-acre stormwater detention basin designed to reduce basement backups and street flooding.
The city’s public notice on the Brightmoor Stormwater Improvement Project explains that the Detroit Water & Sewerage Department is acquiring the properties at 14554 Greydale and 21610 and 21634 Lyndon as part of the Brightmoor Stormwater Improvement Project.
The basin will manage runoff from a 500-acre drainage area and is also intended to improve water quality in the Rouge River downstream.
