Thousands without power in Wake County caused by damaged lines, Duke Energy investigating

As Central North Carolina deals with record temperatures and Dangerous heat, thousands in Wake County find themselves without electricity.

According to Duke Energy, the outage happened around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, and around 35,000 customers were affected.
