From September 24th through 26th, Carrboro’s Orange County Social Club is celebrating a “quarter century” in business with OCSCQC, a three-night event featuring live music, DJs, and more from some of the people who have supported the bar throughout its history.
Before opening Orange County Social Club, Tricia Mesigian spent some time working at Merge Records, the renowned indie rock label that was founded in Chapel Hill in 1989 by Superchunk bandmates Mac McCaughan and Laura Ballance. At Merge, Mesigian realized that her greatest skills weren’t necessarily the ones that are exclusive to the record industry.
“I just found that when I was working at Merge, my best role was hosting,” she said. “Hosting bands from out of town at my house, or taking them around town before a show.”
After moving on from the label, Mesigian took that revelation and decided to run with it by starting her own business…
