Well ahead of the first pitch of the 2027 season, North Carolina continues to bolster its 2028 roster. Sunday afternoon, Penn left-handed pitcher Marty Coyne announced his commitment to transfer to the Tar Heels.
Coyne, a current senior at Penn, will join the Diamond Heels for his fifth season of eligibility following the conclusion of his career with the Quakers. Across three seasons in Philadelphia, the Delaware native has posted a 4.98 career ERA in 142.2 innings pitched.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder earned First-Team All-Ivy League honors as a sophomore after posting a 3.89 ERA across 44 innings out of the Penn bullpen, striking out 49 batters while surrendering 19 earned runs…
