Committee named to find next chancellor of N.C. Central University

UNC System President Peter Hans named the committee to find the next chancellor of North Carolina Central University Friday.

“We have a distinguished group that will be committed to finding the best leader for North Carolina Central,” Hans said in a statement announcing the committee. “And I’m excited about the future of this great university.”

James Johnson Jr. , a Central alumnus, will chair the search committee. Johnson is also a professor at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and director of the Urban Investment Strategies Center . He also sits on the governor’s Environmental Justice Advisory Council.

“We are fortunate to have a group of talented individuals ready to engage with the Eagle community to identify the qualities we want to see in our next chancellor ,” Johnson said in a Friday statement. “I’m looking forward to the process and I’m honored to be a part of it. The committee’s members care enormously about the mission of North Carolina Central University, and we expect to have a pool of excellent candidates.”
