DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was killed in a broad-daylight shooting in a north Durham shopping area Saturday afternoon, police said.
The incident was reported just after 3:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Guess Road, at the Willowdaile Shopping Center and across from the Cross Creek Shopping Center, where a Food Lion and other stores are located, according to a news release from the Durham Police Department.
“Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who had been shot,” police said in the news release.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, officers said.
The shooting took place near the Guess Road/N.C. 157 intersection with Horton Road, near Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and an H&R Block office. Near the intersection, there are other shops in the area, including a tobacco/vape store, Dollar Tree, Walgreens, Harris Teeter and Starbucks.
“This remains an active investigation and no further details are available at this time,” police said.
