My car was towed without warning during a birthday party – I had proof I was in the right, but cops could do nothing

A CELEBRATION took a turn for the worse, when a driver’s car was inexplicably towed from a parking lot.

A driver’s car was towed while he was celebrating his girlfriend’s birthday – police said they couldn’t help retrieve the vehicle.

“My vehicle had been reported as being abandoned,” Jonathan Hosbrough, the driver, told North Carolina’s NBC affiliate WRAL.

“You can’t be faulted if something isn’t marked properly.”

Hosbrough took his girlfriend to a local Durham club in May 2023.

The club’s main parking lot was filled with other party-goers, so he parked in an adjacent lot that didn’t have parking limit signs.

The unmarked adjacent lot, however, was owned by a local restaurant.

North Carolina’s parking laws force private property owners to post signs if they plan on towing vehicles, WRAL said.

Hosbrough said the lot had no signs posted the night his vehicle was towed.
