David Ntim, a sophomore at Duke, has been selected as the Duke Chapel Student Preacher for this year. He will give a sermon at the chapel’s worship service on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. His sermon, titled ‘Hope Against Hope’, will explore the link between faith and hope, referencing the biblical figure of Abraham. The service, open to the public, will be broadcast live on radio, Duke Hospital television system, and the chapel’s website.
Ntim’s sermon draws from the fourth chapter of the Letter of Paul to the Romans. This chapter talks about Abraham’s faith in God’s promise of many descendants despite his old age and lack of children. Ntim suggests that Abraham’s story highlights the significance of trusting in God’s plan.
In addition to being a Chapel Scholar and Chapel Ambassador at Duke Chapel, Ntim is part of the campus Religious Life group Every Nation Campus. He also holds the position of director of religious affairs for Duke Student Government. His introduction to the chapel’s Student Preacher program came through his older brother Daniel, a former Duke student.
