Autopsy says Hillsborough murder victim was shot multiple times, found outside car

An autopsy released Monday shows an eastern North Carolina man died from gunshot wounds to his chest, wrist and hand on a dead-end Hillsborough road in December.

Hillsborough police were responding to a call about a gunshot injury when they found DeAnthony Letrelle Morgan, 20, of La Grange, and Zikera Wardlow, 16, of Hillsborough dead on Cardinal Drive near Interstate 85 in Hillsborough.

Morgan was lying dead on the pavement outside a Dodge Charger around 6:40 a.m. Dec. 30, the autopsy says. He was shot four times and also had shrapnel wounds on the right side of his body, “possibly from bullet fragments, glass, or other material from the vehicle.”…
