North Carolina state trooper shot, killed man after chase began on I-85

DURHAM, N.C. (WBTV) – A North Carolina state trooper shot and killed a man at the conclusion of a chase that started on I-85 this week, Highway Patrol said.

Officials said the chase-turned-shooting happened Thursday morning after the trooper pulled over a man, 53-year-old Philip Aiken Brown, on I-85 South near the Falls Lake bridge close to the Durham-Granville County line.

Highway Patrol said Brown was pulled over for not having a license plate, but during the traffic stop, he allegedly gave the trooper fake information, and once his true identity was revealed, the trooper found that Brown had multiple orders for his arrest…
