Military explosive device removed from North Carolina home

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A military explosive found at a home in Wake County Tuesday afternoon was safely removed, deputies said.

According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, the possible unexploded military ordnance was located in the yard of a home in the 4600 block of Forestville Road near Raleigh. Deputies said they responded with the Wake New Hope Fire Department at around 1:45 p.m.

The home was evacuated, and the Raleigh Police Bomb Squad provided assistance, according to the sheriff’s office.

Shortly after 7 p.m., the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said the device was “safely removed” from the property by a military explosive ordnance disposal unit.
