Duke music director, instructor Bradley Simmons dies at 73

Trinity College of Arts & Sciences announced the death of Bradley Simmons, instructor of music and director of the Duke Djembe and Afro-Cuban Ensembles.

Simmons, 73, died May 22.

“Bradley’s extraordinary passion, rhythmic brilliance and generous spirit left an indelible mark on generations of students and on our department,” said Verena Mösenbichler-Bryant, chair of the music department and professor of the practice of music. “We are profoundly grateful for the artistry he shared with our community and for his enduring legacy.”…
