Pittsboro, NC – Search teams have recovered the body of one of the two missing boaters on Jordan Lake. The individual was located this morning and confirmed deceased. Out of respect for the family, the person’s identity is not being released at this time.
Two men were last seen entering the water around 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, after launching a canoe from the Martha’s Chapel Road canoe access area. Their empty canoe was recovered later that evening, prompting an intensive search effort.
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is continuing search operations today with the assistance of the North Chatham Fire Department, FirstHealth EMS, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
