City of Durham says 5.8 million gallons of wastewater flowed into Eno River

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — On Tuesday, the City of Durham said 5.8 million gallons of wastewater flowed into the Eno River after the lift station suffered flooding-related damage.

The city is asking residents to avoid any flowing or standing water downstream of the Eno Creek Lift Station — which helps transport sewage — and assume any water downstream of the station is contaminated.

The City of Durham said it has notified the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Resources about the discharge on Tuesday…
