Bear Creek, NC – A Bear Creek man faces multiple felony charges following an investigation into allegations that he sexually assaulted a female juvenile over the course of a year in both Chatham and Montgomery counties.
Larry Varner, 54, of 420 Arch Hausley Road, Bear Creek, is charged by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office with three counts of statutory rape, eight counts of indecent liberties with a child, first-degree kidnapping, delivery of a controlled substance to a minor, and child abuse — all felonies.
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office launched its investigation on June 18, 2025, after receiving a report of assaults that occurred at Varner’s home in Bear Creek and at a residence in the Badin Lake community of Montgomery County.
