Transformation Underway on Former Durham Coca-Cola Plant

The Ardent Companies just closed on the former Durham Coca-Cola bottling plant, and already the company has the project 70% leased. The mixed-use development will break ground next month. It’s a walkable, mixed-use destination featuring over 70,000 square feet of retail, 370 multifamily residences and 35 for-sale townhomes. Site work is currently underway, and Ardent expects to deliver the first retailers at the project by Q4 2026. The redevelopment project is expected to cost $200 million.

The project’s name, Westside Bottling, is a tribute to the site’s history. Although much of the bottling facility will be demolished, the company plans to reuse pieces in the new development.

The retail mix currently includes Sprouts Farmers Market, Shake Shack, Ulta Beauty, Club Pilates, First Watch, and Vernis Nail Salon. First Citizens Bank, which is already located on the site, will remain…
