UNC-Chapel Hill unveils plan to reduce jobs, spending after federal funding cuts

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill plans to lower its spending by nearly $70 million in response to recent funding restrictions and budget cuts under the Trump administration, according to a message from university leaders on Wednesday.

This “thoughtful and targeted approach” identified savings that total about 2% of the university’s operational budget, including as much as $29.5 million this fiscal year, UNC-Chapel Hill officials said.
