DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Durham Parks and Recreation announced Tuesday it received $500,000 in grant money to make improvements to the American Tobacco Trail.
The grant money comes from the Great Trails Program, a one-time funding source created by the North Carolina General Assembly in order to expand tourism and economic development across the state.
Durham Parks and Recreation said the grant money will also be matched dollar for dollar by the city’s Capital Improvement Program. With the money match from the improvement program the total funding comes to $1 million…
