On August 13, at approximately 1:09 p.m., the Mebane Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle operating recklessly on I-40/I-85. The 911 caller reported that the vehicle had attempted to run them off the road. Mebane officers located the suspect vehicle near the Mebane Oaks Road exit and determined it had been reported stolen by the Carrboro Police Department. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over and accelerated to approximately 90 MPH. Officers initiated a pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed near Exit 176B in Durham.
All four occupants, two adults and two juveniles, were taken into custody without injury. A firearm and a substance believed to be cocaine were recovered from the vehicle.
