Raleigh man arrested for dragging officers with car during Greenville traffic stop

GREENVILLE, Pitt County — A 20-year-old Raleigh man, Andre I. Bass, was arrested following an incident where he allegedly dragged two Greenville police officers with his car during a traffic stop on Saturday, August 23.

Bass faces multiple charges, including possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, and resisting a public officer.

According to warrants, Bass was instructed to stop and exit his vehicle. Instead, he accelerated, reaching speeds of 45-mph in a 35-mph zone. During the attempt to stop the vehicle, two officers were leaning inside the passenger and driver’s windows when Bass drove off at a high rate of speed, dragging both officers…
