Serratore’s opens in downtown Hillsborough

It’s tough to keep quiet about good food. Even without a grand announcement about its official opening, the revamped and refreshed dining room was full and alive with graceful movement, happy sounds and the unbelievable aroma of fresh, hot offerings served to customers as Serratore’s Pasta and Pizza welcomed the public.

The opening capped several months of renovations, hiring, training and planning as the trio of Josh Decarolis, Phil Bey and Pietro Costanza make good on efforts to open the new restaurant by the end of summer. Last April, the partners announced plans to open Serratore’s Pasta and Pizza, signing a 10-year lease at 112 N. Churton St., where Radius Pizzeria had operated for 11 years until it closed in December 2024. Since then, area residents have been eagerly awaiting the latest dining venture from team that created the well-known and respected Mothers and Sons Trattoria in Durham. After a soft-opening for friends, family and business partners, the big day finally happened, surprising many who flocked to downtown Hillsborough for the August Last Friday Arts Walk.

“We got some good training in and we did two nights of friends and family to sort of figure out what we’re doing and we feel good,” said Decoralis, who lives in Hilsborough. “Opening a restaurant is a stressful operation, no matter how well prepared you are. But, I think we’re in a good place.”…
