Hillsborough Police: Month-Long Drug Investigation Leads to 2 Arrested, Charged

A pair of Hillsborough residents face several drug charges following a sting operation by law enforcement on Friday.

A release from the Town of Hillsborough detailed the arrest and charges of two men following a “month-long” investigation by the Hillsborough Police Department. Along with Orange County sheriff’s deputies, officers executed a search warrant Friday morning at a building in the 100 block of Foust Street in Hillsborough. During the search, investigators recovered 1.5 pounds of marijuana, 20 grams of crack cocaine and powder cocaine, 0.9 grams of fentanyl, two firearms and “equipment used in the manufacturing and distribution of illegal narcotics.”

Police subsequently arrested 38-year-old Jarrod Royster and 32-year-old Arnold Poteat and charged them each with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver controlled substances and maintaining a dwelling to sell controlled substances. Because of the building’s proximity to two schools — Hillsborough Elementary School and Central Elementary School — both men also face two counts of selling illegal narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school…
