In a turn of events following a recent carjacking incident, Enrico Jerome Farrington Jr., a 34-year-old Durham resident, has been charged with identity theft in addition to his initial offenses. Last week, during an arrest related to an armed carjacking, Farrington gave authorities his sibling’s information, a move that has now led to further legal trouble.
According to a previous release from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, the carjacking took place on September 3, when Farrington allegedly pulled a knife on a driver after asking for a ride and then proceeded to flee in the stolen vehicle. The Durham County Sheriff’s Office was to quickly apprehend Farrington soon after locating the victim’s vehicle.
The slip-up with false identification came to light after alert family members spotted the incorrect details in a news article and notified authorities.
