A University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill professor faces a subpoena in an open meetings and public records lawsuit filed by former university provost Chris Clemens. The subpoena arrived Thursday after a newspaper report about the suit included the professor’s criticism of Clemens.

The suit filed Monday challenges the way UNC-CH leaders use the Signal messaging app, which allows users to delete messages automatically after recipients have read them.
