Man wanted in Durham rape cases arrested in VA, police say

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A man wanted on charges stemming from two sexual assaults that happened in Durham in July has been arrested in Virginia, the Durham Police Department said Wednesday.

According to Durham police, 42-year-old Jose Cartagena Guzman had outstanding warrants for two counts of second-degree forcible rape and one count of first-degree kidnapping. He was taken into custody in Virginia on Sept. 10 by the Durham Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and a U.S. Marshal Task Force, police said.

The department also said Guzman, of Raleigh, is the owner of JCG Remodeling LLC and may have used his job as a means of finding victims…
