Duke Arts leads into fall break

As we look ahead to fall break, Duke’s arts scene offers an exciting week of performances, workshops and cultural celebrations.

As always, make sure to check out the Rubenstein’s and Nasher’s offerings. From Miller Lagos’ Merx Tree to “Sherman Fleming: Unsettled” in the Incubator Gallery, there are world-renowned artists showcasing their work on our doorstep.

The week begins Monday with hands-on creativity at “Ofrenda Screen Printing,” a Duke Arts Create workshop at 6 p.m. taught by Robby Poore and Lety Alvarez. This two-hour session covers screen printing basics, from creating stencils to ink mixing, and is perfect for those looking to explore printmaking techniques. Also on Monday, the Duke Human Rights Center presents the “When I Say Africa” Film Screening & Discussion at 7 p.m. The documentary examines Western stereotypes of Africa, from the sketches of the first European adventurers to today’s pop culture…
