North Carolina Invites Job Seekers to Statewide Career Expo in Durham, Championing Public Service Opportunities

The State of North Carolina is rolling out the welcome mat for job seekers with its third annual Career Expo slated for November 10—this time it’s setting up shop at Sheraton Imperial RTP in Durham. It’s a chance for residents from every walk of life, no matter their educational background or experience level, to learn about a bevy of public service opportunities available within the state. The official press release extends an open invitation to the free event.

North Carolina Governor Josh Stein is advocating for a safer, stronger state through a workforce that’s as diverse as the region’s needs, saying, “North Carolina is a great place to live and work, and we are always looking for more talented people who can help make the state we love safer and stronger,” and he believes that keeping the Expo in the Triangle for another year will bolster recruitment efforts for the state’s agencies and public universities, according to the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources. Thirty-four booths will be spread across the venue, each representing different state agencies and public universities where recruiters are set to meet prospects engage in conversations about careers, and dish out advice.

In a move to emphasize the inclusivity and support of the Career Expo, a range of services are being offered: from the NCWorks mobile unit which brings job resources directly to attendees, to the Dress for Success mobile unit that can aid in presenting the right image for potential job opportunities. Veterans aren’t left out, with a vendor table specifically catering to them through NCWorks Veterans Services, aiming to ease the transition from military service to the civilian workforce…
