North Carolina city cracking down on loud mufflers

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The latest crackdown on loud mufflers in downtown Raleigh now puts the number of busts at 50 since July, according to police.

The latest enforcement operation was this past weekend when officers conducted a “saturation patrol” in the downtown and “hospitality” areas, such as Glenwood South, according to a Raleigh Police Department news release.

The focus on loud, aftermarket mufflers began in July when police nabbed 14 noise-makers, officers said. In Augustand September, there were 17 and 13 drivers cited, respectively, according to police…
