There seemed to be a sea of Blue Devils moving simultaneously on the floor of Cameron Indoor Stadium Sunday afternoon. Duke acted as one unit to send the ball over the net in three or fewer touches as it took on Notre Dame at home.
Despite gaining a steep lead in the third set, Duke (5–16, 2–8 in the ACC) fell to Notre Dame (8-10, 5-5) in all three sets, extending its losing streak to four.
The third set opened with the Blue Devils setting the tone early. The energy of the team changed as freshman Ashby Zubchevich earned a service ace — the first one of the game. She notched another point for the home team, making the score 9–5 with Duke in the lead. For the first time in all three sets, the team held the lead.
