Incidents of gun violence marred an otherwise festive atmosphere when two women were shot at a large gathering near the North Carolina Central University campus in Durham on Saturday night. Central University police with dispersing a “large gathering” on the 300 block of Pekoe Street when the gunshots occurred.
According to the Durham police, the two women were found with gunshot wounds after the sound of gunfire disrupted the night. One victim was discovered on the 400 block of Pilot Street with a non-life-threatening injury, while another was located on the 2000 block of Otis Street with injuries described as life-threatening.
