Date set for trial of man accused of killing, raping UNC student Faith Hedgepeth

A judge forced attorneys on Thursday to set a date for the trial of the man charged with killing UNC student Faith Hedgepeth in 2012.

Initially, a Durham County prosecutor told Superior Court Judge Keith O. Gregory that her team isn’t ready to set a date for the trial of Miguel Salguero-Olivares, who was arrested and charged with killing Hedgepeth in 2021 and has remained in jail.

But Gregory pushed for a date until all agreed on Sept. 28, 2026…
