On November 10, 2025, the Durham Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) held a regular session at the BOCC Chambers in Durham, North Carolina. The meeting started at 7:03 p.m. Chair Nida Allam presided. Both in-person and hybrid participation were available. Commissioner Burton led the Pledge of Allegiance. The agenda proceeded as planned.
Before the public session, the Board met in a closed session as required by state law. After returning, the Board announced salary increases for key county officials. The Register of Deeds will receive a 5.133% raise. The Sheriff and the Board of County Commissioners will each receive a 4% increase.
The meeting addressed the impact of the government shutdown on food and nutrition benefits. The Durham County Department of Social Services (DCoDSS) reported disruptions in SNAP benefits. However, applications and recertifications will continue. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) will distribute partial November SNAP benefits and post updates online.
