Cause of death for Duke nurse killed in September revealed in autopsy report

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — After a Duke nurse was killed in her Durham apartment in September, an autopsy has revealed her cause of death.

According to a report from the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Officer, Auriel Lowe died as a result of being strangled to death.

The report states 31-year-old Christopher Whitley, who has been charged with murder in connection with Lowe’s death, strangled her. Afterward, the report states, he called his brother and then FaceTimed an ex-girlfriend, showing her Lowe’s body.
