Government shutdown affects ECU students’ travel plans

The U.S. Government has been in a shutdown for about 6 weeks, making it the longest shutdown in history. Around 750,000 employees have been furloughed, and many public programs have been put on hold, affecting families all over the country.

However, one thing that has affected East Carolina University students the most is the cancellation of flights at Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and Charlotte Douglas airports.

According to MSN News, over 3000 flights were cancelled around the country last Sunday. There were 57 cancellations at RDU and 64 at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. More have been occurring as the week progresses…
