DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — The judge in the Faith Hedgepeth murder case from 2012 has filed a new order that calls into the question the existence of evidence in the case.
In a court order filed last Wednesday, Superior Court Judge Keith O. Gregory said the Chapel Hill Police Department has until Dec. 6 to provide proof that a blood stain from the bathroom door in the apartment where Hedgepeth was found exists.

Reports from CHPD said a blood sample was collected, but later during a hearing after Miguel Salguero, the man accused of killing Hedgepeth, and his defense team requested independent DNA testing of the blood sample, the state said it does not have a sample from the blood stain, according to the court order.
