Triangle schools announce closings and delays due to icy roads. Here’s the list

Some classes will be interrupted for the third school day in a row in the Triangle due to the threat of wintry weather.

Durham Public Schools will be closed Tuesday while Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools will operate on a two-hour delay due to expected refreezing overnight of black ice. This comes after schools were on a delay or used remote learning Friday and were closed on Monday.

“Some areas outside of Chapel Hill and Carrboro saw a bit of snow, others just rain, but everything is wet and we’re expecting a hard freeze overnight,” Chapel Hill-Carrboro said in its announcement. “That could mean slick roads and sidewalks in the morning, so we want to give our commuting staff, students and families the extra time (and daylight) to get to school safely…
