Outpouring of support for parents of 15-year-old Cary girl who died in crash: ‘Worst nightmare’

Brandon and Erica Goff have had heavy hearts since learning that a car crash on Friday afternoon claimed the life of their only daughter. Lena Goff, 15, was a sophomore student at Green Hope High School when she was killed in a wreck at the Louis Stephens Drive and Morrisville Parkway.

Teddy bears, flowers and signs make up the growing memorial that sits at the crash site.

“This is a parent’s worst nightmare,” said Erica Goff. “It’s the hardest thing about being a parent is the order of events are screwed up. I’m supposed to go first. Not her.”

Cary police said Lena was riding in a green Honda Civic with four others when the driver didn’t yield the right of way while making a left turn onto Louis Stephens Drive before colliding with a blue Jeep Cherokee. The driver is younger than 18 and is being charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way…
