Donated hygiene items stolen from Durham Public Schools collection drive

An effort by Durham Public Schools to help people in need is starting all over again after they say someone stole a majority of donated hygiene products this week.

The school district hosted a hygiene care drive last month for families in need collecting more than 200 items to provide for more than 1,000 families in the school district.

“To have those items taken, we were heartbroken. A lot of our families don’t have access to funding to purchase hygiene items. And so to be able to come into our closet to get soap and detergent and deodorant. And so it means a lot to our families,” said Ebony Ross…
