In a Hollows A common room, senior Hanna Elks Smith prepares for the Blue Devils for Christ’s Bible study on Sunday evening — as she does nearly every week. Even though it’s the same weekly routine, she always gets a little nervous.
But all the preparations have been meticulously planned. Sunday’s Bible study was preceded by Thursday’s leadership meeting, during which Smith and her fellow leaders prayed for guidance, dove deep into scripture and discussed what the lesson plan for the following Sunday would be.
Now, Smith has set out some small snacks and prepares to greet anyone who arrives early. Before long, it will be time for the Bible study — or as the student-athletes who participate in it affectionately say, “the b-stud” — to begin…
