DURHAM, N.C. — A wanted man is behind bars after Durham County Sheriff’s investigators, working alongside state and federal partners, seized roughly one kilogram of methamphetamine in a controlled delivery operation. The bust, part of an ongoing multi-agency investigation, has led to multiple felony drug charges.
Investigation and Arrest
According to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, December 11, the Special Anti-Crime & Narcotics (SAC/Narc) unit—joined by the State Bureau of Investigation and federal task-force partners—executed a controlled delivery at a home on the 1200 block of Ivy Street.
When the package containing approximately one kilogram of methamphetamine was accepted, investigators arrested Jose David Dubon-Sanabria, 20, of that address. Authorities say the operation was part of a continuing effort to curb large-scale narcotics trafficking in the region.
Charges Filed
Dubon-Sanabria, who already faced outstanding warrants for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury to a minor and possession of a firearm by a minor, now faces an extensive list of new felony charges, including:
- Trafficking in Methamphetamine
- PWIMSD (Methamphetamine)
- Felony Conspiracy
- Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling for Controlled Substances
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- MSDP within 1,000 Feet of a School
- Resist, Delay, and Obstruct an Officer
He was denied bond and remains in custody at the Durham County Detention Facility following a magistrate hearing.
