PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)- State police said a North Carolina man was killed in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer in Pittsylvania County.
According to VSP, the crash happened at 11:23 p.m. on Sunday, December 14 on Callands Road, just east of Mapleton Drive. Police said the driver of a 2024 Dodge Caravan, traveling east, crossed the center line and struck a 2026 Kenworth T680.
The driver of the Caravan, identified as Junior Anthony Mercado, 44, of Durham, N.C., died at the scene. Police said Mercado was wearing a seat belt.
