SAXAPAHAW, N.C. (WGHP) — As construction continues five months after two feet of Tropical Storm Chantal floodwaters inundated Saxapahaw United Methodist Church, the congregation is celebrating Christmas with a neighboring church that welcomed them in with open arms.
In the wake of devastating flooding to her church in Saxapahaw, Pastor Mandy Sayers says there was hardly time to wonder what came next as many neighboring churches reached out to offer help and space.
“Concord and Mount Herman too, that cooperative parish and Pastor Trevor have really been so so kind and really just reached out to us right away, saying, ‘Our home is your home for as long as you need it’ and ‘Just let us know what you need,’” Sayers said…
