Triangle hospitals welcome first babies of the new year

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — It is hard to come in first place, but these babies in the Triangle — with more than a little help from mom — managed to be the first ones born in 2026 at these Triangle area hospitals.

The first Triangle baby to come into the world was Valentina, was born at 12:37 a.m. at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

The second baby born at UNC was Emily. She came into the world at 1:40 a.m., according to the hospital.

At WakeMed North Hospital the Jones family welcomes their baby into the world at 1:09 a.m. Making them the first family to have their baby at the hospital in 2026…
