MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A low-cost carrier that had invested in operations at Raleigh-Durham International Airport has announced it is closing its base in the Triangle.
Avelo Airlines, which opened its RDU operating base in February 2023, announced Tuesday that it will begin “streamlining its network.” In addition to shutting large-scale operations at RDU, the carrier is also closing its bases at Wilmington International Airport on the North Carolina coast as well as in Mesa, Arizona.
