Bond increased for accused “TikTok Trickster” captured in North Carolina

SPANISH FORT, Ala. (NBC 15) — Bond is now set at $500,000 for an accused serial con artist who police say stole a Spanish Fort woman’s car in 2023 and was captured this week in North Carolina. Despite North Carolina court records stating Brenton Fillers “fled from justice” and evaded the Alabama theft charge, he was initially granted a $50,000 bond that was reduced to $15,000.

“Under North Carolina law defendants being held on a fugitive warrant are seen at a first appearance and conditions of release are set by a judge. We are working to determine what information led to the judge making that decision,” said Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman.
