Monks ‘Walk For Peace’ Raleigh stop altered by weather; planned trek through NC continues amid winter storm

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — As a brutal winter storm makes its way to central North Carolina, and frigid air settles in Raleigh, plans for public talks from a group of Buddhist monks walking thousands of miles from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C. were canceled.

The monks from the Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center made their way through Wake County early Saturday morning, traversing along Tryon Road in Apex before arriving at Greg Poole, Jr. All Faiths Chapel in Raleigh around 11 a.m.

They announced on their social media page that their peace talk, a daily speech delivered by the monks, was canceled. The talk was set to begin during their lunch at the chapel…
