Residents evacuate flooded apartments after pipe bursts in 300 Swift

Saturday brought 3 inches of snow. Sunday brought frozen pipes.

The impact was felt at the 300 Swift apartments after multiple pipes burst due to cold weather, flooding a stack of three apartments. A sprinkler pipe ruptured on the balcony of one unit on the fourth floor of the building. Another pipe had previously burst earlier in the day in the below-ground parking garage.

Swift residents observed the first pipe burst in the parking garage at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday morning. In a midday email, Assistant Residence Coordinator Jade Marcum warned that water from the burst parking garage pipe had frozen around the parking deck’s main entrance, resulting in one elevator’s closure and impacting nearby cars…
