This series of posts will be made weekly on Chapelboro to help inform our community about local government meetings. All meeting days, locations and times may be subject to change. Check town, county, and school district websites for additional information.
It’s a light week for local government, and not just because of the recent winter weather: many elected boards have the week off, and many others have shorter agendas. Nevertheless, there are some key items this week – most notably in Durham, where the City Council will consider a rezoning ordinance to enable the RTP’s long-term development plans. Also this week: Carrboro gets a look at its Comprehensive Plan, and Durham County Commissioners will consider expanding its popular HEART program to send mental health workers to respond to non-violent crisis calls.
Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.
Orange County
And the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board is slated to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 5. Their agenda will be available at this link.
Chatham and Durham Counties
Durham County Commissioners have a (virtual) work session at 9 a.m. Monday, February 2. Commissioners will discuss expanding the county’s HEART program, which sends mental health professionals to respond to non-violent crisis calls. Also on the agenda is a presentation on the county’s updated Bike + Walk Plan and a discussion of the county’s legislative goals for the upcoming General Assembly session.
