Cary’s downtown is hosting GLOW, a pop-up light-based art installation designed to brighten the winter months. The exhibit, which opened in January, will remain on display along Academy Street until mid-March. It features a variety of light displays, including a large floral design and spring-themed projections on the historic Ivey-Ellington House.
Now in its fifth year, GLOW is part of the Academy Street Artwork Projects. The installation was originally created during COVID lockdowns to encourage residents to get outside and explore Cary. The event began with a lantern parade, featuring nearly 1,200 participants carrying handmade lanterns through Downtown Cary Park, according to Denise Dickens, Public Art Program Supervisor for the Town of Cary.
